Hi there,

Just in the load development for my 6mm/284. Built on a trued Remington 700 Short Action, with Hollards heavy competition recoil lug, Pac Nor Super Match 30 inch 3 groove 10 twist barrel and 8.5 - 25x 50 LRT Leupold.

Started load developent with 87gr V-Max's & H1000, and shooting 1/4 min groups, so I know that my rifle likes this particular bullet. Powder weight was 56.5 gr's, but velocity quite low. When I started loading up to 59 gr's, velocity was better, but accuracy suffered.

I know from other people with 6mm/284's that this powder is too slow, I have been advised to stick with H4831 and H4350. What other advice can you give.

Regards,

Michael.

My 6/284 has a 8 twist barrel on it for the heavier bullets so i don't know how your gun will react but RE22 worked well in it.

I go along with "lynn". Reloader 22 works great in my 8 twist w/Sierra 107s. Start w/about 45.0 grains

I too have a 6m/m-284 on a remington with 10 twist barrel. I tried about every powder I could think of and for my rifle the VERY BEST V V N560. Bar none! Any bullet weight performs best in this rifle with that powder. And boy is it fast! Try it, it might work that well for you too. Hope so.

Thanks guys for your advice. I would ever so dearly use Re 22, but It's just about impossible to get the stuff down here in New Zealand. I'm going to try the 4831, 4350 and Vitavohuri Powders instead.

Many thanks,

Michael.

Phil B,
Do you mind disclosing which primer and bullet you used with the VVN540 powder, and what grain, as I have the same setup and am impressed with 540 in a 22-250 AI. I would appreciate any help you could give me. Thanks in advance.
